Synopsis

Celebrity beckons for Robert Burns as writer Andrew O'Hagan continues on his journey to find the people and the places which inspired Scotland's national bard, on the 250th anniversary of his birth. Almost immediately on his arrival in Edinburgh, Burns was feted as a genius, 'the heaven-taught ploughman'. But did this image fit the truth?
