Matthew Sweet reviews a film update of Evelyn Waugh's classic novel Brideshead Revisited. Memorably adapated into a lavish television series in the 1980s starring Jeremy Irons, this new cinematic version's screenplay was written by Andrew Davies, the writer behind many award-winning TV literary adaptations. Matthew asks how will Waugh's themes of religious redemption, forbidden love and loss of innocence translate to the big screen.
