Synopsis

Presented by Penny Gore, from the Royal Albert Hall, London.

The Netherlands Philharmonic and young violinist Julia Fischer perform a programme in which rustic dances provide the inspiration for the main works. The concert begins with Dvorak's Sixth Symphony, with its cross-rhythmic third movement, and is followed by the Cyrano de Bergerac overture by Dutch composer Johan Wagenaar.
