Series 17 Programme 3
This week Charlie Gillen calls by to kailye with Alan Wade, an old friend from north Antrim and a fine piper, who comes from a long family tradition of musicians.
Alan plays some tunes on the Scottish small pipes for Charlie, and talks about his father, Sam Wade, who taught him his piping skills. There's some rare archive recording of Sam playing whistle and uilleann pipes.
A few weeks ago Charlie brought us the first part of a yarn about Bart the Yank, who came to north Antrim to seek out his roots. This week, Bart gets more than confused by a taste of the hamely Ulster Scots tongue, but he shows he's not thaveless when handling a cow's elder!
