  • An Litir Bheag 153

Tha mo smuaintean air Blàr Chùil Lodair an t-seachdain seo. Bha mi a’ leughadho chionn ghoirid mu Phàdraig Grannd. B’ e far-ainm Phàdraig Dubrach no AuldDubrach. Bha Pàdraig ainmeil. B’ esan am fear mu dheireadh a chaochail a bhaaig Blàr Chùil Lodair. Chaochail e ann an ochd ceud deug, fichead ’s a ceithir(1824).
Rugadh Pàdraig Grannd ann am baile beag ann an sgìre Bràigh Mhàrr. Thasin ann an Siorrachd Obar Dheathain. Ann an Gàidhlig ’s e an t-ainm air a’ bhaileAn Dubh-bhruach. Ann am Beurla – Dubrach. Bha Seumasachd làidir anns ansgìre sin.
Thàinig Bliadhna a’ Phrionnsa. Bha Pàdraig na thàillear. Sguir e an obairaige. Chaidh e an cois arm a’ Phrionnsa.Bha e treun. Bha e ri gaisgeachd aig Blàr Sliabh a’ Chlamhain – the Battleof Prestonpans. Ràinig e ìre sàirdseant-màidsear ann an arm a’ Phrionnsa. Bha efhathast anns an arm sin aig Cùil Lodair. Bha e air a chur an grèim. Chaidh e donphrìosan. Bha am prìosan ann an Sasainn.
Ach rinn e dol-às. Thill e a dh’Alba. An ceann greis bha e a’ fuireach annan Gleann Lethnochd ann am Bràigh Aonghais.
Phòs e tè Màiri Chuimeanach. Bha Màiri mòran na b’ òige na Pàdraig. Bhaise cuideachd à Bràigh Mhàrr. Bha dithis chloinne aca. Chaidh na bliadhnaicheanseachad. Bha Pàdraig is Màiri a’ fuireach ann an Gleann Lethnochd. ChaochailMàiri ann an ochd ceud deug ’s a h-aon-deug (1811).
Bha Pàdraig – no Dubrach – ainmeil. Bha e air a bhith a-muigh leis a’Phrionnsa. Bha e a’ fàs sean. Bha e ag innse stòiridhean do dhaoine òga munbhliadhna aige còmhla ri Teàrlach Òg.
Nuair a bha e uabhasach sean, thachair rudeigin iongantach dha. Bha e ceud’s a h-ochd (108) bliadhna a dh’aois. Thachair e ris an Rìgh. Dè thuirt an Rìgh ris?An robh Pàdraig duilich gun robh e air a bhith na reubaltach? Chì sinn an athsheachdain dè dìreach a thachair.
