Kenneth Macdonald investigates the events of May 3rd 2007 when the Scottish election was thrown into confusion by failures in the counting of votes. 140,000 ballots were rejected that night. The programme finds out what went wrong and asks whether it could have been avoided. There are revelations about changes which were made to the voting papers and counting process which raise fundamental questions about the historic election.
