Johnny Otis

Suzi Quatro continues to profile acclaimed stars of the rock 'n' roll era - Eddie Cochran, Brenda Lee, Gene Vincent - as well as the unsung heroes Johnny Otis and The Legends of Doo Wop.

The second episode looks at Johnny Otis, who was born to Greek immigrant parents in California. Johnny recalls his influential career as a band leader, writer and musician. He played with the greats and also discovered such R&B stars as Little Esther Phillips and Etta James and, in the early 50s, nurtured the early career of composers Leiber and Stoller. This series first broadcast in 2005.
