Charlie Parker

Alyn Shipton explores the music of saxophonist Charlie Parker, still regarded as one of the greatest soloists and innovators in jazz. He looks at Parker's work from the earliest big band days until his premature death, including his partnerships with Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and Fats Navarro. Studio guests are Brian Priestley, who discusses Parker's live recordings, and Peter King, who explains his significance as a saxophonist.
