Chef/restaurateur John Torode and vegetable guru Gregg Wallace look for the country's next star chef. Three of the most talented contestants from the first series return to battle it out again for a place in the quarter-final. First they have to invent two dishes from scratch in 40 minutes, using only the ingredients they have been given. Then they must cook at The Bank Aldwych, and afterwards create a two-course meal for the judges. Only one will get through to the quarter-final stages.
