Synopsis
Steve Cram recalls how the Moscow Olympics of 1980 came to symbolise the intensity of the Cold War between East and West. As politics and sport collided head on, athletes were faced with impossible dilemmas. Medals became the currency of political propaganda and the spirit of sportsmanship virtually disappeared. The lessons learnt from Moscow ensured that the Olympic movement would never be the same again.
