Representing Belgium is Roberto Bellarosa with Love Kills.
18-year-old Roberto Bellarosa is another teenager hoping to do well at this year’s competition. Despite growing up in a household of footballers, Roberto’s talent for singing was spotted early on by his parents, and he was enrolled at the Conservatoire de Huy to learn music theory at the tender age of nine.
Eurovision is a new adventure for me, and an opportunity for a new audience to see meRoberto
His big break came when he entered the first series of The Voice Belgique. Singing James Morrison’s You Give Me Something the 17-year-old had all three judges turning their chairs to face him. In April 2012 Roberto won the competition and received a recording contract with Sony Music.
Since then he has released three singles; Jealous Guy, Je Crois and Apprends Moi, from his debut album, Ma Voie.
In November 2012, Radio Télévision Belge Francophone announced that Bellarosa would represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013. The song Love Kills was chosen by a public vote and was written by Jukka Immonen and Iain Farquharson.
