Neil Nunes

Neil Nunes is one of Radio 4's freelance continuity announcers. Born in Kingston, Jamaica he later moved to the island's central parish of Manchester where he was brought up.

Details

He was pursuing a degree in biology (hoping to spend the rest of his life in a white lab coat) when he fell in love with the radio station at his university, where he worked as a presenter. Shortly thereafter Neil left Jamaica and worked as a newsreader and reporter on radio networks in the Dutch Caribbean. While there he also served as a correspondent for the BBC Caribbean Service.

Neil later joined the BBC World Service as a producer and presenter of current affairs programmes. He currently reads the world news bulletins on the World Service.

In 2006 Neil joined Radio 4 as a continuity announcer where he now frequents the late evening shifts - his preferred time of day.

Among the places where he can be found outside of work, apart from at home and his local church, is the basketball court - basketball being a not so secret passion.
