Janine's a great actress who enjoys seducing people, but the clever diva doesn't always get the end results she desires, which has even led to her imprisonment.
Underneath the hard exterior she's really a little girl lost, who wants to love and be loved more than anything - just don't expect her to admit it! For a while it looked like she had found contentment with husband and father of her little girl Scarlett, Michael Moon, but the stress of parenthood made Janine increasingly paranoid about Michael's true intentions. This lead to Janine fleeing The Square, leaving Michael holding the baby.
On her return she took Scarlett from Michael and banned him from seeing her! Michael managed to manipulate his No.1 fan Alice into sneaking in daddy/daughter meetings - but the stress of this cloak and dagger behaviour became too much for Alice who blurted out the truth to Janine. Realising that she had been well and truly had, a furious Janine fled The Square again, promising Michael that he would never be part of his daughter's life. But after a sneaky piece of reverse psychology from Michael, Janine decided that she couldn't keep away...
Upon her return to The Square, Janine set about building herself an empire, hiring Lucy Beale and the charismatic Danny Pennant alongside Billy at Butcher's Joints. Michael took an instant dislike to Danny and put him through his paces; getting Jack to perform criminal record checks on him and towing away his beloved car. Danny quickly became wise to Michael's behaviour and wasted no time teaming up with Janine to wind Michael up further... even going so far as to bed Janine. Unfortunately for Danny, Janine doesn’t really do functioning relationships.
Janine expanded her empire when Jack sold his share of Basher's Gym to her - much to the annoyance of Michael. The two eventually came to a scary face-off when Janine threatened to change Scarlett’s name. Little did she know, but Michael was planning her murder. But when he got on the wrong side of Alice, she confessed all to Janine, who then turned the tables on Michael by attempting to frame him for assault. As it all came to light, Janine and Michael had their final showdown and it seemed Michael would be victorious as he had her by the throat. However, Alice intervened and stabbed Michael, before running to let the police in, leaving Michael lying on the kitchen floor. But Michael wouldn’t go down without a fight and got back up before launching at Janine. Janine proceeded to pick up the knife with a tea towel and stab him a second time, leaving Michael back on the kitchen floor. With Michael dead and no one witnessing Janine's fatal stab, she lied to the police and claimed Alice attacked Michael in a crime of passion. It seems lying about murders has become a standard procedure for Janine!
Janine was determined not to let her guard down, and it seemed that she even convinced Alice's brother Joey that Alice was guilty...
In true Janine fashion, she threw herself into her business, deciding that she wanted to be the new owner of The Vic. But what she didn't bank on was David blackmailing her out of the money that she was going to use for the pub - he had a recording of her confessing to Michael's murder.
Janine finally got her come-uppance on Christmas Day. Despite trying to kill David to save her own bacon, her confession managed to get into the right hands - Joey's! She was led away from The Square in handcuffs. It looks like Michael's is the one murder she couldn't get away with!
