As for paternity - rumours were rife that Garry Hobbs was his father after a drunken fling with Laura, until a blood test proved it was Ian. Now that he’s set up in the Beale family home, he can look forward to a lifetime of summers spent in the fish and chip shop, and his every move being controlled by his overbearing father.
