Voices from the Desert

During their last tour of duty in Afghanistan, the metalsmiths of the 7th Armoured Brigade were joined at Camp Bastion by portrait artist Anna Redwood.

Over several weeks, Redwood collaborated with the Desert Rats to create new artworks. These included an 11 foot sculpture of the Brigade's mascot, a jerboa rat, made from armoured vehicle parts.

BBC Arts presents this film about the project, which culminated in the Voices from the Desert show in London last month.

The jerboa rat sculpture was the centrepiece of the exhibition, which marked the brigade's return home.
