BBC Radio Cumbria Jigsaw appeal

How you can make a difference to children and young people with life-limiting illnesses, and their families across Cumbria.

We’ve teamed-up with Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice which offers support to children and young people with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses.

The BBC Radio Cumbria Jigsaw Appeal launched in January to raise funds and awareness for the hospice’s attempts to bring its services even closer to the people who really need them.

The Children’s Hospice already works with around 50 families but, by funding new outreach activities, the hope is that many more children and their families across the whole of the county can benefit.

Our original target for the year was to raise £80,000 to fund a mobile sensory room, art, music and play sessions, and a paid outreach worker - all funded for an initial 12 months. Amazingly, we reached this target within 6 months! We then set out to fund those activities for another year and we’ve hit that target too!

There are two months left to go on the year-long partnership and we would love your help to fund as many respite care sessions as possible. Each one costs around £1000 and means such a lot to the families involved. A day, night or weekend at the hospice for a child gives a much-needed break for the parents and also allows them to spend more time with their other children.

We really hope that you will join us and help the BBC Radio Cumbria Jigsaw Appeal so we can make a difference to Cumbrian families.

You can donate now, or raise money by holding a fund-raising event.
