David Dimbleby introduces coverage of The Ceremony Of Remembrance, the traditional cornerstone of the nation's national act of remembrance for all those who have lost their lives in war since the start of the 20th century, live from the Cenotaph in London's Whitehall.
The service is led by the Bishop of London, with Her Majesty The Queen, senior members of the Royal Family, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and politicians in attendance, paying their respects and laying wreaths at the Cenotaph.
Coverage of the event is augmented by short films from those affected by war, from the Great War to the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The ceremony concludes with the march past, as almost 10,000 veterans pay their respects to their fallen comrades, family and friends.
This programme is part of 1918-2008 – Ninety Years Of Remembrance, a special season of programmes marking the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

After 90 years, most of those who served are gone, but the words of the Great War's soldier poets remain as a lasting legacy and keep the memory alive.
The ancient garrison town of Shrewsbury was home to perhaps the most famous war poet of all – Wilfred Owen. On Remembrance Sunday, Aled Jones presents hymns of remembrance from Shrewsbury's Civic and Regimental Church of St Chad's.
Through war poetry old and new, Poet Laureate Andrew Motion and actor Robert Hardy join Aled in paying tribute to those who have suffered and died in conflicts past and present.

Stephen Fry journeys through the dramatic landscapes of New Mexico
Stephen Fry goes South West, as he continues his tour of all 50 States of the USA.
The high mesas of New Mexico are the starting-point for Stephen's journey through the dramatic landscapes and peoples of the South West. Here, the lives of physicists at the Los Alamos Lab, who are unravelling the mysteries of dark matter, contrast starkly with those of the eco-house dwellers living "off grid" near Sante Fe.
Staying with the Navajo Indians in Monument Valley in Arizona, Stephen learns to weave a basket, before heading to the sublime beauty of Lake Powell, and life aboard a luxurious houseboat.
He takes a Second World War Flying Fortress Bomber to the "Boneyard" in Tucson, where 3,000 military planes are eerily mothballed, before living out a fantasy by becoming a cowboy at the Old Tucson Studios.
In Nevada, Stephen meets semi-naked Mormon missionaries during their calendar shoot, and is initiated into the intricacies of brothel life by madam extraordinaire, Susan Austin, before heading over the Sierra Nevada mountains to the Pacific Ocean.

BBC Two features highlights from England's international rugby union match against the Pacific Islanders – Martin Johnson's first Test in charge. England, who were once again without the injured Jonny Wilkinson, would have been expected to get their autumn series off to a win but the Pacific Islanders do boast several Guinness Premiership stars among their ranks, including London Irish duo Seilala Mapusua and Sailosi Tagicakibau.
With Australia, South Africa and New Zealand visiting Twickenham before the month is out, it will be vital that England build up some momentum ahead of the Six Nations, especially in the wake of their ill-fated tour of New Zealand this summer, which resulted in two heavy defeats.

BBC Two features highlights from yesterday's Rugby League World Cup match in which hosts and reigning champions Australia took on Papua New Guinea, in the last game in Pool A, as well as one of the classification matches from the other pools.
There will also be reaction to England's game against New Zealand, which took place yesterday in Newcastle.

Adrian Chiles presents highlights from today's two Barclays Premier League matches. Chelsea were at Blackburn in search of their third League win in a row at Ewood Park. Both sides are under new management this season, with Luiz Felipe Scolari in charge of high-flying Chelsea, while Paul Ince has stepped up to the elite league with Rovers.
In the day's other game Fulham hosted Newcastle. The season is still in its first third but already the Magpies rollercoaster has been in overdrive. However, they have won on three of their last five visits to Fulham, so their loyal travelling support would have been hoping for something to cheer about in West London this afternoon.
Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate took his side to Aston Villa, a club where he was once captain. Of the last seven league meetings between Manchester City and Tottenham, six have ended with a 2-1 score line, with Spurs winning five of those games. But it's been a troubled season so far for the London club, giving Mark Hughes's side strong hopes of taking all three points.
The programme also features all the goals from yesterday's games as well as a look at the funny side of football in 2Good 2Bad.

OT Fagbenle plays the title character in a fictional drama inspired by events in the life of Walter Tull, the first black officer to lead British troops during the First World War (and the subject of Walter Tull – Forgotten Hero, a documentary preceding this drama). Tull was also one of the first black footballers to play professionally for Tottenham Hotspur and Northampton Town between 1909 and 1914. Walter was killed at the Second Battle of the Somme in 1918, at the age of 29.
In Walter's War, Walter is sent home to recuperate from a bout of trench fever, after showing considerable leadership qualities while serving on the Western Front. He learns he has been recommended for officer training at Gailes, Ayrshire, Scotland – a considerable promotion for any man serving his country, but of even greater importance for a black man at this time. However, whilst at Gailes, Walter must fight against prejudice as well as the demons which haunt his dreams, before he returns to the Front.
Walter's War is written by Kwame Kwei-Armah, awarding-winning writer of the play Elmina's Kitchen.
The cast also includes: Ewan Stewart as Sgt Fuller; Dugald Bruce-Lockhart as Captain Coombe; Samara MacLaren as Connie; and Michael Wildman as Edward Tull.
This programme is part of 1918-2008 – Ninety Years Of Remembrance, a special season of programmes on the BBC marking the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
