Manish Bhasin and guests preview the weekend's domestic fixtures and also look back at the World Cup qualifiers that took place last week.

In today's Barclays Premier League fixtures, Steve Bruce's Wigan are looking for their first ever win over Liverpool – they face a daunting task at Anfield but can take courage from the memory of earning their first ever point against the Reds at their famous home last season. It's 30 years since West Brom last beat Manchester United at Old Trafford but the Baggies try again today. Bolton defeated Blackburn at the Reebok Stadium two months into the new century but have failed to beat their local rivals at home on the nine occasions since then. Can they break that duck this afternoon?

In the Coca-Cola Championship, early pace-setters Wolves host Coventry while Preston and Reading meet at Deepdale. In Scotland, both Celtic and Rangers are in action – Gordon Strachan's side travel to Inverness for the lunchtime kick-off while Rangers host Dundee United. And it's the Edinburgh derby on Sunday with Hibernian meeting Hearts at Easter Road.

Hole In The Wall, the action-packed, knock-about family entertainment show hosted by Dale Winton, serves up another crazy contest in which celebrities try to force themselves through the various holes in the wall to prevent ending up head-first in cold water.

Joining Dale are team captains Anton Du Beke, the Strictly Come Dancing favourite, and cricket legend Darren Gough, each bravely donning a silver lycra suit and heading up a team of well-know names in a battle to beat the opposition to the final prize.

The red team this week features TV presenter Sarah Cawood and comedian Marcus Brigstocke, who work alongside Anton for the £10,000 prize money for a charity of their choice. Darren's blue team is completed by actor Bobby Davro and pop star Michelle Heaton. Both teams go to embarrassing lengths to win the £10,000 and the red team even attempt to balance it out in the three-man human pyramid. Sarah meets her opposite in the Mystery Guest round, while Bobby shows no grace as he plunges into the water.

The show, which originated in Japan, has fast become a world-wide hit.

The showdown continues, live, from BBC Television Centre in London and, this week, nobody is safe from elimination as the remaining celebrity couples compete for the coveted title of Strictly Come Dancing champions.

Tonight, for the first time, both the men and women compete and it's everyone for themselves as they fight to win the judges' praise – and the vital audience vote – to stay in the competition.

Arlene Philips, Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and head judge Len Goodman critique the remaining 12 couples and Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly present the glittering dance extravaganza.

Merlin narrowly escapes with his life when he is attacked by a mysterious and terrifying creature with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle, as BBC One's adventure-packed family drama continues. At the last moment a young stranger appears and manages to fight the monster away. He tells a grateful Merlin that his name is Lancelot before promptly passing out.

Merlin rushes Lancelot to Gaius to treat his wounds. Meanwhile, a distraught Uther and Arthur visit a village which has been torn apart by the strange winged beast. It has left all livestock intact, preying only on humans – whatever this thing is, it has a taste for human flesh.

When Lancelot comes round he tells Merlin of his dream to protect the kingdom by becoming a Knight of Camelot. On hearing that only those of noble birth may serve, Lancelot is so devastated that Merlin fakes some credentials for him. Though Lancelot is reluctant, Merlin persuades him use them to convince Arthur of his nobility. Lancelot impresses Arthur with his fighting ability and quickly progresses through basic training before receiving a knighthood from the King.

However, Lancelot and Merlin's merriment is short-lived. The following morning, guards storm Gaius's chambers and arrest Lancelot. Uther has found out about Lancelot's lies and, stripping him of his knighthood, he throws him in jail.

Gaius discovers the identity of the winged beast – it is a Griffin, a creature that can only be defeated with magic. Gaius tells Uther of his findings, but his advice falls on deaf ears; the King tells Arthur that his Knights will do battle that evening.

Deeply concerned for Arthur's safety, Gaius knows that this creature will not be killed with spears and swords alone. He tells Merlin that he must harness the powerful magic needed to defeat such a beast. Otherwise Arthur will surely die...

Colin Morgan plays Merlin, Santiago Cabrera plays Lancelot, Richard Wilson plays Gaius, Anthony Head plays Uther and Bradley James plays Arthur.

After drowning his sorrows the previous night with Adam, Abs wakes up in a police cell with cuts and bruises, as the popular medical drama continues. Adam awakes at his flat lying next to a girl, Susie – last night's catch.

It's Abs's last day on ED and he's not in a good mood. Jordan notices that Adam's private life is getting in the way of his work and asks him to put a stop to it.

It is apparent that, because of her involvement in the accident at the Farmead Estate, threats are being made to Dixie. Jeff tries to protect her.

As Abs says his final goodbyes, ED is interrupted by a major road accident. He sadly makes his way outside but is met by Ellie, looking stunning. They share a moment as they leave together.

Adam is played by Tristan Gemmill, Abs by James Redmond, Jordan by Michael French, Dixie by Jane Hazlegrove, Jeff by Matt Bardock and Ellie by Sarah-Jane Potts.

Match Of The Day

10.30-11.50pm BBC ONE

Gary Lineker introduces highlights from today's seven Premier League fixtures.

Middlesbrough faced Chelsea at the Riverside, where they have beaten the London club twice in the last three meetings. However, it was the Blues who came away from Teesside with three points last season, thanks to goals from Didier Drogba and Alex. Wigan visited Liverpool, where they earned their first-ever point against the Reds last season. Manchester United hosted West Brom, who have not won at Old Trafford for 30 years, while Arsenal welcomed Everton to the Emirates.

Peter Crouch was twice a substitute for Aston Villa against Portsmouth during his spell with the Midlands side but was likely to be leading the Pompey attack from the off when the two met today at Villa Park. Bolton were looking to improve their recent poor home record against local rivals Blackburn. And it was a battle of the Roys at Craven Cottage, where Hodgson's Fulham faced Keane's Sunderland.
