Gina McKee and Jeremy Northam star in a powerful one-off drama which explores one woman's fight to hold her family together after her husband is accused of downloading indecent images of children from the internet.

From the outside, Fiona and Simon Mortimer's life together with their three young daughters is the picture of middle-class comfort and security. However, their lives are shattered when the police unexpectedly arrive to arrest Simon for downloading images of child sexual abuse, seizing all the family computers as evidence.

As police investigations get under way, Simon is released on bail and returns to the family home. But Fiona's life has changed and her trust in her husband is challenged to the limits, as events unfold over the course of a year.

Although she knew her marriage wasn't perfect, Fiona now has to face the terrifying possibility that her children may not be safe with their own father and that the man she loved could be guilty of a terrible crime.

As Fiona deals with painfully difficult decisions about her family, she struggles to know where to turn, who to tell or what to believe, as the nightmarish situation gradually unfolds. For Simon, the solution is clear: tell no one and keep quiet – they'll only be persecuted if word gets out.

Based on extensive research, Fiona's Story is a thought-provoking drama which looks at the impact of these accusations on the family of the accused and the turmoil Fiona faces as her family falls apart.

Written by newcomer Kate Gabriel and directed by Adrian Shergold, the drama is a tale of trust, betrayal and the breakdown of a marriage, which powerfully explores myriad emotions.

Fiona Mortimer is played by Gina McKee and Simon Mortimer by Jeremy Northam. Jimi Mistry, Claire Bloom, Nicholas Farrell and Amanda Root also star.
