Daniel helps a teenage girl realise that her sister is dead and that suddenly coming off anti-depressants has left her in a confused mental state, as the medical drama set in a Midlands health centre continues.

Ruth tells Michelle about Melody and Daniel and a concerned Michelle later mentions it to Melody, who is relieved to have someone to talk to. Michelle thinks Daniel is bad news, but that isn't what Melody wants to hear.

Julia's old friend, Marcia, turns up at the Mill. A recovering alcoholic, Marcia has been sober for two years and has come to apologise for ruining Julia's marriage to Mac. Julia is forgiving, and Marcia then offers her a week's holiday in Spain.

Daniel is played by Matthew Chambers, Ruth by Selina Chilton, Michelle by Donnaleigh Bailey, Melody by Elizabeth Bower, Julia by Diane Keen and Marcia by Sheila Ruskin.

Gary Lineker tees off live coverage at
Royal Birkdale

Gary Lineker is at Royal Birkdale to present live coverage of the opening day's play of the 137th Open Championship. It's the eighth time that the Southport course has hosted The Open and its roll of honour includes Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and Tom Watson.

No British golfer has ever won The Open title at Royal Birkdale but hopes of a home victory will be improved by the absence of Tiger Woods, who is ruled out of the tournament because of a knee injury. Woods was among the pace-setters the last time The Open was held at Royal Birkdale after a first round of 65, but it was fellow American Mark O'Meara who eventually lifted the famous Claret Jug after a play-off triumph against Brian Watts.

Coverage of The Open is also available on BBCi.

Lab Rats – A Donor Ep 2/6
Thursday 17 July
9.30-10.00pm BBC TWO

There's chaos at the Arnolfini Research Laboratory of St Dunstan's University when it emerges that Cara has stored several boxes of strawberry ice-lollies and some crispy pancakes in the cryogenics pod, as the new comedy starring Chris Addison continues.

The Lab Rats have no choice but to defrost its occupant, Sir Andrew Chother, who was frozen because he's the most irritating man in the world and it just seemed the best thing to do. Now they have to keep him out of the way during a surprise inspection.

Lab Rats, written by Chris Addison and Carl Cooper, may be set in a laboratory but it is less about science and more an excuse for stupid jokes, endearing characters and farcical plots.

The regular cast includes: Chris Addison as Dr Alex Beenyman, Geoff McGivern (Hyperdrive) as Professor John Mycroft, Jo Enright (Phoenix Nights) as Cara McIlvenny, Dan Tetsell (Extras) as Brian Lalumaca, Selina Cadell (Bremner, Bird & Fortune) as Dean Mieke Miedema and Helen Moon (Shameless) as Minty Clapper. This week's guest stars are Robin Ince as Sir Andrew Chother and Kim Wall as Mr Goodman, the surprise inspector.
