It's the morning after for Vivien – having come home the night before to find two boys had broken into her house, she is clearly still in shock as she attempts to cope with what's happened, as the drama set in a Midlands health centre returns following a two-week break for Wimbledon.

Vivien has lots of cuts on her arms – one of which won't stop bleeding, despite her attempts to dress it. She tries to call the police, but when the operator answers she cannot speak and breaks down. She goes to her bedroom and hears the voices of the boys. She gathers the blood-stained bedspread and tries to wash it.

After having a bath and washing the sheets, Vivien eventually calls the police to report she's been burgled. Meanwhile, at The Mill, everyone is curious to know if Vivien passed her driving test. They spend the day having fun at her expense, but Jimmi becomes concerned that no one has actually heard from her and calls her.

When he gets hold of Vivien, she tells him she didn't go for her test because she was burgled and, despite her saying that he doesn't need to, Jimmi goes round to check on her. When he eventually gets her to sit down, she asks him to look at the cuts on her arm. Deeply concerned, Jimmi pushes her to find out how she got them. She finally confides in him – the attackers did it to her. And, after swearing him to secrecy, Vivien then tells Jimmi they also raped her.

Vivien is played by Anita Carey and Jimmi by Adrian Lewis Morgan.

dishes a contemporary twist

With thousands of Chinese restaurants in Britain, Chinese food is one of the nation's favourite takeaways. In this new series, Ching-He Huang reveals how delicious Chinese food can be prepared at home with easy-to-prepare, mouth-watering recipes using fresh, healthy and readily available ingredients.

Throughout the series, Ching-He, the rising star of Chinese cooking in the UK, gives the nation's favourite Chinese dishes a contemporary, fresh, healthy twist with her distinctive take. She reveals a host of straightforward practical tips for newcomers to Chinese cooking at home.

In tonight's opener, she reveals the secrets of the perfect chicken chow mein, which she prepares for the nutrition-conscious Beijing-bound British Women's Olympic Rowing squad. She teaches world champion and Olympic medal-winning rower Katherine Grainger how to cook her own healthy version of sweet and sour pork and serves it with a delicious choi sum and mixed vegetable salad, with pineapple dressing and a special egg-fried rice with her own twist.

Ching-He also shows viewers how to cook her healthy version of takeaway favourite beef in oyster sauce with spinach and mushrooms, offers a host of tips for using and preparing a wok and reveals the essential store-cupboard ingredients needed to make the simplest, quickest Chinese meals at home.

Mary Portas (right) takes Lucy
Weller to Liberty's to practise
her window-dressing skills

Fashion guru Mary Portas is in York this week, as she continues to reinvigorate more fashion shops that have lost their way.

Lucy Weller, a former theatre set designer, owns and runs Selkie, a ladies' fashion boutique in the centre of York.

A fabulous building and a wonderful location haven't been enough to attract York's sophisticated 40-somethings over the threshold and, when Mary visits for the first time, the reason for that is crystal clear. Lucy's Halloween-themed window screams "second-hand shop" rather than "fashion emporium" and, inside, it's apparent that Lucy has forgotten she is selling fashion and instead has given pride of place to ironing boards and dolls houses.

To show Lucy where she's going wrong, Mary takes her to meet the visionary behind one of the most individual independent fashion stores in the country. They also pay a visit to Liberty's, where Mary has convinced the department store's creative director to hold back her key window for Lucy to practice her window-dressing skills. But even with the pick of the department store's top designer collections, the day ends in tears for Lucy. Will Mary ever be able to turn this theatrical novice into a hard-nosed retailer?
