Network TV Week 25

Unplaced

BBC ONE Unplaced Week 25
Commercial Breakdown With Jimmy Carr Ep 1/8
Sunday 15 June
10.20-11.00pm
BBC ONE

Jimmy Carr presents the first episode in a new series of Commercial Breakdown, an unmissable collection of the world's funniest, wildest and weirdest television adverts, each one a mini-masterpiece in its own right.

In between the commercials, Jimmy uses his trademark brand of perfectly timed wisecracks and one-liners to deliver his own incisive view on the ads, the advertising industry and everything in between.

Grouped according to specific themes, the categories featured include That's Gotta Hurt, which showcases the sadistic lengths to which some ad execs will go to make a sale; the Best Of Commercial Breakdown, which takes a look back at the classic ads which have been making viewers smile over the past two decades of the show; the Commercial Breakdown Awards, in which Jimmy decides on his favourite adverts of the week in a category of his choosing; and Vintage, which looks at the quaint ways of adverts from bygone days.

The first episode features an Australian beer commercial's alternative take on the classic audition scene from the movie Flashdance; John Cleese attempting to talk enthusiastically about pretzels in Australia; an unusual road-rage deterrent from America; and the hilarious, daft and downright obvious advice given in vintage public safety ads, one of which warns against the dangers of becoming trapped in a fridge.
