When the severed hand of a young male is found close to Harold Penton's estate, Hale is convinced that Penton is guilty of rape and murder, as the new forensic crime drama starring Tara Fitzgerald and Keith Allen continues.
A wealthy business man, Penton is also a recluse and very keen to protect his privacy. His bodyguard, Jimmy West, does his best to prevent Hale from getting too close, insisting, along with Penton's doctor, that he is too ill to be questioned.
Eve and the team use forensic evidence to move forward in their investigation and although they make a compelling discovery, they still struggle to prove who is responsible for the young male's death.

Bomb Disposal Operator Rod arrives in Afghanistan in late December 2010. He's assigned a team and sent out to a small army base to deal with IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices). But even his first job holds unexpected surprises.
The Counter IED Task Force is made up of a number of small teams, code name Brimstone, that include bomb disposal operators and the searchers who look for IEDs in the most dangerous areas. During this tour the Brimstone teams take on the biggest counter-IED operation ever undertaken in Afghanistan – to clear an abandoned village of IEDs so families can move back in.
Search Team 9 are involved in the clearance of Char Coucha village. Three months into their tour, they've already suffered casualties – of the original team of seven, only four remain.
