Olympic Countdown

With the London Olympics now just 341 days away, Clare Balding looks at how London is preparing for the Games, asking whether Britain will hit its target of fourth place on the medal table and finding out who the stars to look out for next year are.

Today, the form of some of Britain's top medal hopefuls goes under the microscope at test events at next year's venues and World Championships abroad. This time next year their Olympic dreams and destinies will have been decided but, for now, it is all about rehearsing for that big day.

The programme features the beach volleyball which takes place at Horse Guards Parade, the road cycling test event on the Olympic course, the BMX supercross World Cup event in the Olympic Park, canoeing from Szeged, Hungary, and the World Championship triathlon from Lausanne, Switzerland.

Prom 13 – Verdi's Requiem

This concert sold out on the first day of booking but, tonight, television viewers can take a front-row seat for this BBC Proms performance of Verdi's dramatic masterpiece – Requiem.

The choir of 400, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and a stellar line-up of soloists are conducted by the legendary Verdi specialist Semyon Bychkov.

BBC Proms 2011 are simulcast on the award-winning BBC HD channel – the BBC's High Definition channel available through Freesat 109, Freeview 54, Sky 169 and Virgin 187.
