In the first of a pair of Brahms Proms, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, conducted by Bernard Haitink – one of the world's great conductors – perform Brahms's Third Symphony and Piano Concerto No. 1.
Haitink describes the COE as: "a group of exceptionally talented musicians"; the same praise can also be levelled at pianist Emanuel Ax, who joins them in the second half.
Presenter Charles Hazlewood talks to Haitink during a break in rehearsals.
