Emma (Romola Garai) becomes the subject of unwanted attention from Mr Elton

A proposal is imminent from Mr Elton, and the legendary Frank Churchill finally visits Highbury, as BBC One's new adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel continues.

Emma continues her attempts to match up Harriet and Mr Elton, vicar of Highbury. Although uninterested in marriage herself, she is intrigued by the mysterious and elusive Frank Churchill, whom she hopes to meet for the first time at a village Christmas party.

Frank does not arrive but, instead, Emma becomes the subject of unwanted and embarrassing attention from Mr Elton. A few weeks later, village gossip and speculation focuses on the arrival of young Jane Fairfax and a large piano that she has been sent by a mystery admirer. Emma, however, refuses to believe that Mr Knightley could be the secret admirer.

Mr Elton is played by Blake Ritson, Frank by Rupert Evans, Emma by Romola Garai, Harriet by Louise Dylan, Jane by Laura Pyper and Mr Knightley by Jonny Lee Miller.

Rugby League – Super League Grand Final

Sunday 11 October
1.00-2.00pm BBC TWO

Clare Balding presents highlights from the grand final at Old Trafford, as the 2009 Super League season reaches its climax.

St Helens and Leeds have contested the grand final for the past two seasons, with the Rhinos winning on both occasions, and the two teams will be favourites to scrap it out once again.

However, it's been a somewhat unpredictable season, typified by Warrington triumphing in the Challenge Cup and Bradford failing to reach the play-offs for the first time ever – and it would be no huge surprise to see a new name on the trophy.

Harper's Island Unsolved Ep 1/2

New series
Sunday 11 October
9.00-9.30pm BBC THREE

Harper's Island Unsolved talks exclusively to the cast and creative team behind the intriguing US TV series, in a new, two-part special which allows viewers to savour and relive the most terrifying whodunit mystery that BBC Three has ever shown.

The programme explains how the gruesome murders were brought to life on screen and asks the cast members how they feel about their bloody demise. Harper's Island Unsolved also discovers more about the original concept, the making of the series and examines the murders in the first 10 episodes.

On location with Adam Campbell, who plays Cal, and Karim Zriek, the executive producer, the programme goes to the real setting for Harper's Island – Bowen Island, Vancouver, Canada – to revisit the hotel, harbour, forest and, of course, hanging tree.

Abby (Elaine Cassidy) comes face to face with the man who killed her parents
Abby (Elaine Cassidy) comes face to face with the man who killed her parents

Abby comes face to face with the man who killed both her parents, as the American thriller series continues. But John Wakefield flees when Danny and Henry arrive with weapons.

At The Cannery, Nikki and Shane tend the unconscious Jimmy, while Madison tells Trish and Shea that it wasn't the Sheriff who kidnapped her, but the new friend she had met after first arriving – Wakefield. When he smashes his way into the bar, Nikki and Shane attempt to buy time for those who can run to escape...

Trish, Shea, Madison and Chloe seek refuge in the Sheriff's attic and discover his files. Trish finds a map of underground tunnels running beneath the island, explaining how Wakefield was able to move around undetected. Hearing the church bell toll, Chloe and Trish decide to investigate and meet Henry, Abby and Danny, who are soon joined by Sully and Cal. They are all drawn to the sound of the bell, although none of them rang it. Jimmy then arrives saying he woke up at The Cannery, saw the carnage and rushed into town.

Everyone suddenly notices that Chloe, who was snatched via a tunnel trapdoor in the church, is missing. Abby, Henry and Cal enter the tunnels with the map, asking the others to block the closest exits. Trish and Jimmy cover the road manhole in the woods with Nikki's car, while Sully and Danny barricade the hidden door at The Candlewick Inn. Cal and the others emerge near the river and waterworks. Cal manages to rescue Chloe alone, but the pair become trapped on a narrow work-bridge above the torrent as Wakefield advances on them, blade in hand...

In the attic, Madison shows her mother that the Sheriff had a file on Jimmy, too. The young fisherman has a criminal record. At the manhole, meanwhile, Jimmy carefully prises the shotgun away from a sleeping Trish...

Abby is played by Elaine Cassidy, Henry by Christopher Gorham, Shane by Ben Cotton, Jimmy by CJ Thomson, Trish by Katie Cassidy, Chloe by Cameron Richardson, Sully by Matt Barr and Cal Andersen by Adam Campbell.
