Sara Cox and Scott Mills front Eurovision semi-finals exclusively on BBC Three

BBC Radio 1 presenters Sara Cox and Scott Mills have been lined up to front BBC Three's coverage of The Eurovision Song Contest 2011 semi finals next month. The qualifying rounds, broadcast live from Dusseldorf, will each see 19 of the 43 participating countries perform in the hope that they will be voted through to the final.

As part of the new-look show, Sara will provide commentary live from Dusseldorf on the nights of the semi finals, and also present interviews and reports from the arena. Scott will be filming behind the scenes in the build up to the competition before commentating live on the nights from London.

The programmes will feature a round-up of the preparations for the Contest, an exclusive interview with the UK's entrants, Blue, and live audience interaction via social media.

Sara says: "I am looking forward to experiencing the sights, the sounds and the smells of Eurovision first hand. And I can't wait to cheer on Blue to their assured victory!"

Scott says: "I've always been loud and proud about my Eurovision fan status so this is the perfect way to mix business and pleasure! I think it's going to be a great competition this year with Blue flying the flag for the UK and, of course, I'm looking forward to seeing how Jedward get on!"

Phil Parsons, Executive Producer, says: "I'm delighted that Scott and Sara are taking on the commentary and presenting roles for BBC Three. As well as being great broadcasters they are both big Eurovision fans and this year we're planning a whole new look and feel to the semi finals so we're really excited about what Scott and Sara will bring to our coverage."

The Eurovision Song Contest semi finals will be on BBC Three at 8pm on Tuesday 10 and Thursday 12 May. France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and Italy are automatically qualified to take part in the final. UK viewers will have the chance to vote on who goes through during the first semi final.

The final, with commentary from Graham Norton, will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC One HD at 8pm on Saturday 14 May. Ken Bruce will also present coverage of the show live on BBC Radio 2.
