Mike Parry to present 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live

Mike Parry will present Radio 5 Live's iconic football phone-in 606 with Robbie Savage this week.

Parry, who has worked in sports journalism for over 30 years, makes his debut on Radio 5 Live in the wake of record RAJAR results for the station where it recorded a weekly reach of over 7 million listeners for the first time.

Parry joined Talk Radio in 1999 (later known as talkSPORT) and worked there until February 2011.

Mike Parry said of his new role on 5 Live: "In broadcasting terms I feel like I've just had a call from the manager of Real Madrid. What an opportunity to rise to the challenge of hosting one of the most famous slots in British broadcasting. It's FA Cup weekend and I can't wait to meet the 606 listeners for the first time."

Mike Parry stands in for regular presenter Mark Chapman on Radio 5 Live with Robbie Savage on 606 on Saturday 19 February, 7.15-8.30pm

Notes to Editors

You can listen to 606 every Saturday (6.06pm) presented by Robbie Savage and Sunday presented by Alan Green (6pm). Download the podcast at bbc.co.uk/5live.
