The Ryder Cup 2010 on the BBC

BBC Radio 5 Live has extensive coverage and live commentary of the 38th Ryder Cup from Celtic Manor, Wales, from Friday 1 October, plus nightly highlights on BBC Two.

John Inverdale hosts 5 Live's coverage from Newport across the three days, with live commentary from 9am until close of play on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 October and from 11am on Sunday 3 October.

Nicky Campbell also hosts 5 Live Breakfast from Celtic Manor from 6am on Friday and Saturday morning with all the build-up and action from the early matches.

Commentary comes from 5 Live golf correspondent Iain Carter, Andrew Cotter, John Murray, Clare Balding, Alistair Bruce-Ball and roving reporter, Radio 2 Breakfast host and self proclaimed golf-fanatic Chris Evans. Expert analysis is provided by three time Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher, former Ryder Cup players Andrew Coltart and Oliver Wilson, American PGA Tour player Andrew Magee and Maureen Madill.

European Captain Colin Montgomerie looks back on his illustrious Ryder Cup career in an interview with Iain Carter for a 5 Live Sport: Ryder Cup Special on Monday 27 September at 10pm.

On Thursday 30 September, on the eve of the Ryder Cup, Gabby Logan broadcasts (12noon-2pm) live from Celtic Manor with all the build up to the event, whilst Clare Balding hosts a special 5 Live Sport Ryder Cup Preview from 7pm that night.

BBC Two also has nightly primetime evening highlights presented by Hazel Irvine, featuring the best of the action from all three days of play (1–3 Oct), from Celtic Manor.

Peter Alliss and Ken Brown, with 13 Ryder Cup appearances between them, head up the commentary with expert analysis coming from the winning captain of the 2002 European team Sam Torrance. Shane O'Donoghue will be on reporting duties.

The highlights programmes will also be simulcast online at and available to watch again for seven days on the BBC iPlayer.

There will also be extensive programming from BBC Wales across TV and Radio in the run up to and during the event. Full details at end of release.

The programme includes contributions from Sir Terry Matthews, the team creating the course and other important figures in the Ryder Cup bid. The programme will offer viewers insights into the challenges posed by this major undertaking and looks at how they were overcome. TX: BBC One Wales, Wednesday 29 September, 10.55pm

Easy Ryder: Chris Corcoran's Guide To The Ryder Cup
The programme follows non-golfer Chris on his journey to find out why the Ryder Cup is such a big event for Wales. There's a sneak peek at the new 2010 Ryder Cup clubhouse and the suites in the Celtic Manor, plus an on-course chat with Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie. Welsh rappers Goldie Lookin' Chain give their own take on Newport, Chris travels to America to see if the Ryder Cup has put Wales on the map and while there tries to secure an interview with international golf superstar Tiger Woods. Sport Wales Ryder Cup Special
A special edition of BBC Wales' flagship sports magazine programme Sport Wales with the Sport Wales Ryder Cup Special. Jason Mohammad and Lisa Rogers will be at the Celtic Manor Resort where they will be joined by special guests from the world of golf to give viewers a flavour of the atmosphere of one of the largest sporting events on the planet. The programme will have special previews of the competition during the run up, including a special live report from the Ryder Cup concert, plus a full daily round-up of play with Rhodri Llewelyn.
