Victoria Derbyshire hosts series of live audience debates from annual political party conferences

BBC Radio 5 Live

BBC Radio 5 Live's Victoria Derbyshire will host a series of live audience debates broadcast direct from the annual political party conferences, starting on Monday 20 September at 10am with the Liberal Democrats' party conference in Liverpool.

The panel for the Liberal Democrat audience debate will include Danny Alexander, Chief Secretary to the Treasury and Liberal Democrat MP for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey; Chris Hune, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate change and MP for Eastleigh; Sir Ming Campbell, ex-leader of the Liberal Democrats and MP for North East Fife; and Jeremy Brown, Minister of State at the Foreign Office and MP for Taunton Deane.

The audience of 200 Radio 5 Live listeners will put their questions to the panel on the highs and lows of the previous five months under a Liberal Democrat and Conservative coalition government, including the highly contentious spending cuts.

For a chance to be in the audience for any of the debates, email victoria@bbc.co.uk. The debates will also be streamed live to watch on the Radio 5 Live website, bbc.co.uk/5live.

Victoria will host two further audience debates live from the Labour party conference in Manchester on Monday 27 September and the Conservative party conference in Birmingham on Monday 4 October.

Radio 5 Live's comprehensive coverage of the annual party conference season begins on Sunday 19 September, at 7pm, with Pienaar's Politics.

John Pienaar will provide a round-up of the first day of the Liberal Democrat conference and bring listeners big interviews and political analysis of the main headlines from the event.

On Saturday 25 September, Radio 5 Live's Stephen Nolan will present a Labour Party Conference special in front of a live audience on the evening of the Labour Leadership announcement.

Listeners can tune into Radio 5 live and BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra via DAB radio, online at bbc.co.uk/5live, Digital Freeview, Sky, Freesat, Virgin Media and 909 & 693 AM.
