Alex Belfield will be taking over the mid-morning show on BBC Radio Leeds from Monday 10 May.
Alex promises to get to the heart of West Yorkshire stories, to be the people's champion, to deliver the news and views from around the county and to bring music, laughter and fun to the show, which runs from 9am until 12noon.
He said: "I am really excited about doing this show – it really is my dream gig. It will be driven by the audience and cover the full range of topics from the very serious to the very funny.
"I really want listeners to get involved and enjoy being part of what is going on in the studio.
"I will be putting listeners at the heart of my programme. By introducing new features to the mid-morning show, I'll be getting around West Yorkshire, inviting listeners to be involved, having fun and challenging those who hold positions of authority. It's great companionship, with a serious edge too."
As well as presenting the new show, Alex Belfield In The Morning, Alex will continue to cover the celebrity scene for local radio and still entertain in the clubs - his first love.
As a singer, pianist and comedy act, Alex is also intending to take his show out to the audience and will be seen in clubs and on the streets with Radio Leeds around West Yorkshire over the coming year.
