Tracy Beaker is back and she is in trouble again. This time it's big financial trouble and she needs a job – and needs one quick!
Devised by multi-award-winning children's author Jacqueline Wilson, and the drama team at CBBC, the series sees Dani Harmer reprise the role that made her a household name.
Five years after the last series, Tracy Beaker Returns catches up with the eponymous heroine, now a young adult and living with her foster mother, Cam. She is writing a book, The Story Of Tracy Beaker, which gives an account of her sometimes outrageous actions whilst living in the care home.
She is convinced that the book will be an instant hit that will make her rich and famous in the process. However, after a series of disasters, she realises she needs to earn some cash, fast.
Over in the Dumping Ground they need staff and who better than one of their former residents? Having spent half her life living in the home, Tracy approaches the job of trainee care worker believing that she knows it all, but she soon finds out the hard way that she doesn't.
Still young herself, Tracy is caught between two worlds – she must earn the respect of her colleagues as a professional, without losing the trust of the children now that she is no longer one of them.
Tracy Beaker Returns see Dani Harmer reunited with Connor Byrne, who plays Mike, and Lisa Coleman, who plays Cam, but also introduces a host of new characters as the next generation of The Dumping Ground kids embark on a wide range of adventures of their own.
The series was exclusively filmed and based in the North East of England, cementing the BBC's commitment to boosting out-of-London network programme spend to 50% by 2016.
Tracy Beaker is a CBBC Production. The executive producer is Josephine Ward and the producer is Gina Cronk.
