BBC One Daytime announces new consumer current affairs series tackling the rip-offs that are enraging the nation

Angela Rippon, Jennie Bond and Gloria Hunniford are teaming up to help the nation in its battle against Rip-Off Britain (working title) for BBC One Daytime.

At a time when every penny counts, this brand new five-part series will investigate the sharp practices by some of the biggest names in the High Street; exposing the hidden costs and the deals that really are too good to be true.

The Rip-Off Britain presenters will dig into the facts to show consumers what they need to do to fight back.

The series will also reveal the results of an exclusive BBC Daytime survey into the top rip-offs which are making Britain fume.

Controller of BBC Daytime, Liam Keelan, says: "I am really pleased to have three seasoned journalists in Angela Rippon, Jennie Bond and Gloria Hunniford tackling a subject that's very close to viewers' hearts."

Rip-Off Britain is a 5 x 45-minutes series that includes a new nationwide survey, investigations into how companies don't always give consumers the best deals and information aimed at helping consumers make informed choices about their finances.

The series is being made by BBC Current Affairs, Manchester and executive producers are Carla-Maria Lawson and Sinead Rocks.

Rip-Off Britain is a BBC Vision production for BBC One Daytime.
