  • World Championships in Athletics: 15-28 August

BBC HD is the BBC's high definition channel and features a wide range of shows from across the BBC – from drama and children's programmes through to natural history, sport, entertainment and music.

Other forthcoming programme highlights include documentary Henry VIII – Patron Or Plunderer?, comedy from Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, That Mitchell And Webb Look and Psychoville and new drama Hope Springs.

Danielle Nagler, Head of BBC HD, said: "Sport and music lend themselves perfectly to HD viewing. It really brings these kinds of events to life and so this summer will be a treat for BBC HD viewers.

"It's been a year of real growth for the channel – we've increased hours, we're now available via BBC iPlayer and the viewers themselves voted us Channel of the Year in the recent Freesat awards.

"We want to continue to build on the growing appreciation for BBC HD and deliver more and more great content to both current and new audiences."
