BBC Children in Need 2008: Radio Merseyside holds James Bond day

BBC Radio Merseyside is "Doing Something Different" for BBC Children in Need with a special James Bond day on Friday.

Paying homage to James Bond actor Daniel Craig, who grew up on Merseyside, the station's studios and performance space are being transformed for the day into Casino Royale, with Children in Need being the only winner!

On air, the Breakfast Show team led by "Snell, Tony Snell" will be "Licensed to Thrill" as they start the day with a host of 007 sensations on the airwaves.

Mid-morning, a selection of Radio Merseyside presenters will face the challenge of a Bond Mastermind Special hosted by phone-in presenter Roger "The Man with the Golden Phone Voice" Phillips.

And in the afternoon Billy Butler, aka "Gold Whinger", hosts a Casino Royale Cabaret with live music, some unforgettable Bond songs and a resident "Bond Bard" performance poet.

Members of the public are invited to come down to BBC Merseyside headquarters on Hanover Street in Liverpool from 10.00am until 4.00pm.

There will be a "Buy Another Day" bric-a-brac stall, coffee and croissants on sale and Casino Royale games, including poker and roulette (where no-one wins a thing!).

Various Moneypennys will be on hand to take donations and a certain yellow Special Agent may be making a guest appearance or two.

Highlights from the day's activities will be simulcast to the BBC Big Screen at Clayton Square in Liverpool city centre, which will be showing Children in Need content all day, including a special interactive Pudsey screen.

Tune in to BBC Radio Merseyside on 95.8 FM, 1485 AM, DAB digital radio and online.
