Wales: BBC Children in Need tickets to be released

A limited number of tickets for this year's BBC Children in Need party in Wales will be released to the public this week.

The tickets, which are expected be snapped up very quickly, will be available through a telephone hotline 08700 40 2000, from 10.30am on Wednesday 5 November 2008.

For the first time, the BBC Children in Need event for Wales will take place at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, on Friday 14 November.

It's going to be a brilliant fundraising party and, although everyone can join in the fun on TV, only the lucky few will be able to be in the audience in person.

Hosted by John Barrowman and Gethin Jones, the fun-packed festivities on the evening will include live link-ups with the BBC Children in Need show from London, some top entertainment and a few big surprises.

The audience in Wales will be treated to some of the best Welsh entertainment around, including a special performance by Only Men Aloud, the Cardiff-based Last Choir Standing winners who recently signed a multi-million pound five-album deal.

Only Men Aloud's Musical Director Tim Rhys-Evans is also currently shaping the BBC Wales news team into a brand new choral outfit, Only News Aloud.

The gang – with a host of familiar faces including Wales Today's Jamie Owen and Derek Brockway – have been busy rehearsing ahead of their debut on the night.

The cast of BBC Wales-made soap Pobol y Cwm are also planning their own special contribution to the evening but full details are being kept under wraps.

"This year's BBC Children in Need night in Wales is set to be better than ever," said John Barrowman, who will entertain viewers by singing as well as presenting the show.

"As if having Only Men Aloud isn't already exciting enough, we also have a number of great surprises up our sleeve, so get ready to be entertained – and please don't forget to give your pounds and pennies to Pudsey."

Entry to the BBC Children in Need event will strictly be by ticket only.

Tickets – which are limited to five per household and allocated on a first come, first served basis – will be available from 10.30am on Wednesday 5 November by phoning the Wales Millennium Centre ticket office on 08700 40 2000.

Tickets are only available by telephone and will not be available by calling in person at the Wales Millennium Centre.

Calls cost 6.7 pence per minute from a BT landline. Other network rates may vary and mobiles may cost considerably more.

Last year, the British public helped Pudsey Bear raise a record breaking £37million.

This year, with the help and support of the British public, Pudsey hopes to raise even more money to help disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
