Michael Parkinson joins Jonathan Ross on his Friday night show

This week Jonathan Ross welcomes Michael Parkinson to his BBC One show, Friday Night With Jonathan Ross.

Michael says: "I retired from the TV show, but I'm not retired from life."

He admits he doesn't rule out a return, adding: "If they asked me to do specials I'd be very interested indeed."

Discussing his illustrious television career and the time he realised it was the right moment to leave, he says: "It was very, very sad. But it was time to go, there's too much competition these days.

"I'd grown a little tired of doing it and TV had changed. You don't want to be the old bore in the corner slagging everyone off."

But he does think there's still a place for his style of chat show, adding: "The public still has an appetite for it. The people who make TV have decided that's the way it should go, it doesn't mean to say the public want it that way."

Jonathan also talks to legendary Oscar-winner Faye Dunaway and comedy star Alan Carr, and there's music from Bishi.

A Hotsauce TV production for BBC One.
