New DJs for BBC 6 Music

BBC 6 Music today announced a new weekend schedule for the autumn, welcoming Huey Morgan and Dave Pearce to the network.

From October, Huey Morgan, lead singer of the Fun Lovin' Criminals, comes to 6 Music's Sunday with his radio presenting debut.

With his motto "if it's cool, I'll play it" Huey promises to play an eclectic musical mix spanning rock, rap, disco, soul, latino and more.

Huey says: "I'm thrilled to be joining 6 Music. As a huge music lover it is a great opportunity to be able to share a massive catalogue on the radio.

"My Mum is chuffed that I've joined the BBC as I finally have a proper job! I can't wait to get on air."

Dance DJ Dave Pearce brings his legendary show Dance Anthems to its spiritual home of Sunday evenings.

Promising to be "the ultimate wind-down to the weekend", Dave will celebrate the best of UK club culture, spanning the last 20 years, alongside the latest tracks that are currently doing the business on the UK's dancefloors.

Dave says: "I'm looking forward to bringing a celebration of club culture to the 6 Music audience and hope to bring in a new group of music fans who will discover what else 6 Music has to offer."

Lesley Douglas, Controller of 6 Music, says: "6 Music has, at its heart, a love of music. By bringing Huey Morgan and Dave Pearce to the station we will bring an even greater breadth of music and talent to the schedule."

Other changes see dj duo Queens of Noize take over the Saturday 6 Mix from 9.00 to 11.00pm. The Queens, Mairead Nash and Tabitha Denholm, are 6 Music regulars and guarantee to bring the party to 6's Saturday nights.

Weekend breakfast welcomes Iyare, who moves from 6 Mix, and says goodbye to Natasha Desborough. The show kicks off weekends with a blend of music, chat and interaction with 6's early rising listeners.
