BBC Three commissions first multiplatform comedy drama

BBC Three has commissioned Avalon Television to make a new comedy-drama to launch later this year.

An innovative concept, the aim is to make the programme available first through web 2.0 communities, mobile phones, and its own BBC website before transmitting on BBC Three.

Mouth To Mouth (working title) is a cautionary tale, following the highs and lows of the three members of girl-group Cat's Eyes through individual monologues.

Starring Ayesha Antoine (Holby City), Pippa Duffy (Kate Modern) and Anna Nighingale (Snowdon And Margaret: Inside A Royal Marriage), the multiplatform production is written by Karl Minns (Touch Me I'm Karen Taylor, T-Rexx N Flipside).

Minns will also write all supplementary online content, which will expand the narrative beyond the broadcast show.

BBC Three Controller Danny Cohen says: "BBC Three is committed to producing a steady stream of innovative and creative multi-platform projects.

"The latest of these, Mouth to Mouth, is all about powerful writing and great acting talent.

"The essentials of quality content are not going to change, whatever the platform."
