Production biographies


Chris Lilley – Writer/Creator/Co-Producer

Chris Lilley received international acclaim for his portrayal of five nominees in ABC TV's We Can Be Heroes: Finding The Australian Of The Year.


Creating and writing Summer Heights High, Chris won the international Rose d'Or Award for Best Male Comedy Performance as well as Logie Awards for Most Outstanding New Talent and Best Comedy Series and the NSW Premier's Literary Award for Best Script Writing.


The series also received nominations for four AFI awards including Best Comedy Series, Best Screenplay for Television and Best Lead Male Actor.


Chris began his career as a stand-up comedian and voiceover artist. He graduated to television and gained a cult following for his characters Extreme Darren and Mr G in the sketch comedy series Big Bite And Hamish And Andy.


Chris is also a musician and wrote much of the music for the series Summer Heights High.


Laura Waters - Executive Producer/Producer Princess Pictures

Laura Waters has worked as a producer with some of Australia's most popular comedies including Series 3 of Kath And Kim And Da Kath And Kim Code, Welcher And Welcher, Bad Eggs, and Wendy Harmer's radio show Kaboom!


Recently Laura founded Princess Pictures, producing the ABC TV sketch show Eagle & Evans and We Can Be Heroes: Finding The Australian Of The Year.


Along with producing Summer Heights High, Laura is currently in production on a documentary on the Australian accent with John Clarke, a feature film written by Peter Helliar and an ABC TV documentary series with Wendy Harmer.


Stuart McDonald - Director

Stuart McDonald's most recent film, Stranded, won the 2006 Dendy, If, Australian Film Critics and the AFI Awards for Best Short Film. He graduated from Swinburne and made the award-winning short films Mr Electric and My Second Car.


Stuart worked on three series of Sea Change as a writer and director and then for three series directing The Secret Life Of Us.


Stuart is currently one of two directors on the new ABC TV mini-series, East Of Everything.
