Horne and Corden come up trumps for BBC Three

Update – 1 October 2008: this press release has been updated to reflect the fact that Horne And Corden Have Come will be directed by Kathy Burke.

BBC Controller of Comedy Commissioning, Lucy Lumsden, and BBC Three Controller Danny Cohen have commissioned Tiger Aspect Productions to produce Horne And Corden Have Come (working title), a new 6 x 30 minutes character comedy sketch show for BBC Three.

It is written by and stars Mathew Horne (Gavin And Stacey, Catherine Tate, Roman's Empire) and James Corden (Gavin And Stacey, History Boys, Fat Friends).

Designed as a traditional comedy entertainment show in the style of Morecambe and Wise, Mat and James will be creating new comedy characters as well as performing in front of a live studio audience as themselves.

Danny Cohen said: "We're delighted to continue working with both James Corden and Mathew Horne on this brand new BBC Three sketch show.

"Gavin And Stacey winning the BAFTA Audience Award for Best Programme represented a real highpoint in BBC Three's commitment to new comedy."

Lucy Lumsden said: "We're so pleased that James and Mat discovered each other through Gavin And Stacey and are delighted to have their new comedy sketch show on BBC Three."

Tiger Aspect's Head of Comedy Sophie Clarke-Jervoise said: "This is a very exciting commission for Tiger Aspect. In Gavin And Stacey, Mat and James have proved themselves to be Britain's best new comedy partnership and we're very much looking forward to presenting their brilliant new characters on BBC Three."

Producer Ben Cavey added: "We want to make a show for the new generation that will be similar to what The Mary Whitehouse Experience was for us when we were growing up; sketches and characters that everyone's talking about the next day."

The series will be directed by Kathy Burke, produced by Ben Cavey and executive produced by Sophie Clarke-Jervoise and Geoffrey Perkins.
