Hitting the streets of Wales
As canvassing gets under way on the streets of Wales for the local elections, two of BBC Wales's main Welsh-language news programmes are also preparing to hit the road to find out the views and concerns of the people of Wales, first hand.
In the O Lan i Lan tour, presenters Garry Owen and Nia Thomas, and political reporter Owain Clarke, are on the road for a week as they travel to five locations in Wales.
BBC Radio Cymru's morning news show, Post Cyntaf with Garry and Nia, and BBC Wales's Welsh-language TV news programme Newyddion, with Garry and Owain, will feature the opinions and views of local people.
And they want to hear from the public about issues concerning them – are the local councils doing a good job? Are the recycling facilities great and the schools fantastic? Or is rubbish a problem and the leisure facilities inadequate?
To have their say, people should phone, email or look out for the big yellow BBC Bus as O Lan i Lan visits the following towns and villages:
- Thursday 24 April – St Asaph
- Friday 25 April – Llanystumdwy
- Monday 28 April – Llanbrynmair
- Tuesday 29 April – Llangyfelach
- Wednesday 30 April – Llantrisant
Garry is an old hand at taking the show on the road following his tour of Wales in his famous Garryfan, a specially-adapted caravan, and on another occasion a big yellow bus.
"We wanted to go all over Wales and looking at the map, saw all the villages and towns starting with Llan. That's how from O Lan i Lan came about," explains Garry.
"I love going out on the road because it's varied, interesting and fun. But the most important thing is meeting people, hearing their opinions on topics that are of interest to them.
"Local councils are responsible for such a wide range of services – from education to sweeping the streets, from social services to playgrounds.
"We want to hear what people think of the standard of services in their area and what they'd like to see happen in the future.
"This is a special opportunity to air those issues that bother people before the election and going out on the streets gives us an idea of what's top of the agenda in Wales today."
