Theme tune composer Hazlehurst dies


Ronnie Hazlehurst, composer of some of the best-loved BBC television theme tunes, has died aged 79.

 

He was responsible for, among others, the music for Are You Being Served, To The Manor Born, Blankety Blank, The Two Ronnies, Yes, Minister, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, Butterflies and Last Of The Summer Wine.

 

Jon Plowman, BBC Executive Producer, said: "Ronnie was the composer of many of the best-loved signature tunes of the last 40 years of television and some of his work is still heard today. He is associated with some of the best loved shows of our lives."

 

Ronnie Hazlehurst, who was also an arranger and conductor, served as musical director of the Eurovision Song Contest three times.
