BBC Wales downloads on the Eisteddfod field

This year, for the first time on the National Eisteddfod field, visitors will be able to download information about BBC Wales direct to their phones using Bluetooth technology - and it's all free.

By activating Bluetooth on their mobile phones within dedicated zones, users can receive a wealth of ringtones, pictures as well as a map of the field and the latest results.

The development is very exiting for BBC Wales which already provides programmes from the Flintshire National Eisteddfod for S4C, programmes throughought the week on BBC Radio Cymru and a dedicated website – – with all the news from the festival.

Keith Jones, Head of Welsh Language Programmes for BBC Wales, says: "We're delighted to be able to offer this new service. The BBC is at the forefront of new technology and it's apt therefore that we use this exciting platform to connect with our audiences who will be visiting the Eisteddfod field."

Amongst the information available will be an animation of C2 presenter Glyn Wise along with a screen saver and a special Glyn ringtone.

Glyn says: "I can't wait to hear the Glyn ringtone all over the Eisteddfod field and Maes B. I hope all my fans will download it and make it the ringtone of the festival!"

Also available to download is the C2 guide to the Eisteddfod and presenter pictures.

Ffeil fans can receive their favourite presenter pictures straight to their phones and Doctor Who fanatics can download special sound effects and pictures of the characters from the hit series.

Daily weather reports for the maes will be available along with a selection of winning poetry from the Cyfansoddiadau, the Eisteddfod's official publication.

Information about BBC Wales on S4C programmes will also be available through the service throughout the week.
