BBC revisits New Orleans and invites locals to have their say

World Have Your Say, the BBC World Service interactive radio and online debate programme, returns to New Orleans to broadcast live from the public radio conference PRNDI on Thursday 19 July at noon local time.

BBC presenter Ros Atkins will speak to local residents and listeners across the world in the one-hour broadcast from the Royal Sonesta Hotel.

Visitors to the World Have Your Say website bbc.co.uk/blogs/worldhaveyoursay can listen to the show live, share their views or suggest new topics for discussion.

"New Orleans is very precious to us," says Ros Atkins.

"We first came in March 2006 to broadcast live from the Preservation Hall just seven months after Katrina. It gave us a great opportunity to hear the real story from people living through the aftermath of the devastating hurricane.

"Again, we are in the heart of New Orleans to find out what has happened to residents two years on and to share their human stories with five million BBC listeners in the US and millions more across the world."

Audiences can share their views with World Have Your Say by sending an email to: worldhaveyoursay@bbc.co.uk or calling: +44 20 70 83 72 72 or by sending an SMS to: +44 77 86 20 60 80.

BBC Presenter Ros Atkins and World Have Your Say Editor Mark Sandell are available for interview between 4 and 5pm after the live broadcast on Thursday 19 July at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.
