Trevor Nelson part of 1Xtra's hot summer line-up
1Xtra announces that it will be invading some of the hottest summer destinations across Europe and the UK for 1Xtra Loves Summer – a seven-week summer schedule which sees 1Xtra broadcasting live from a fresh location each weekend.
The summer line–up is made even bigger with the announcement that BBC Radio 1's Trevor Nelson will join 1Xtra for six weeks during the summer season.
Trevor will be playing his usual blend of the hottest black music from 4 to 7pm every Saturday, with some special live performance and an Over 2 U request hour every week.
Trevor kicks off the summer season on 14 July – the week before the first 1Xtra Loves Summer live broadcast.
The 1Xtra Loves Summer broadcasts will be live from noon to 4pm each Saturday, from 21 July to 18 August, hosted on alternate weeks by daytime favourites Rampage and Ace & Vis.
Each week the station will also be giving listeners the chance to pack their bags and join the station on its weekend jaunt.
The summer session will culminate with the station's massive coverage from the Leeds and Notting Hill Carnivals over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.
1Xtra Loves Summer highlights 1Xtra's continuing commitment to bringing its listeners the freshest live events from across the UK and around the globe.
The station's Saturday night live music slot 1Xtra Live will also be reflecting the 1Xtra Loves Summer vibe, broadcasting club nights from the same destinations as the Saturday afternoon show.
Andy Worrell, Executive Producer, Mainstream, 1Xtra, says: "1Xtra is committed to bringing our audience the hottest summer music and programming content. We're very excited that Trevor Nelson is joining the team as part of our summer line–up."
Jason Carter, Editor, Live Events, Radio 1 & 1Xtra, says: "1Xtra is delighted to announce a fantastic summer of live activity – throughout July and August we will be reflecting the atmosphere at some of the key UK and European holiday destinations for our audience, as well as broadcasting back some of the top DJ sets and events, it'll all lead to a mammoth weekend of coverage at Carnival – 1Xtra will be the soundtrack for the summer."
Notes to Editors
Trevor Nelson joins 1Xtra whilst sister station Radio 1 has its own summer schedule. Radio 1's Six Weeks Of Summer sees the station embark on a whistle-stop tour of the hottest holiday locations.
Each weekend Radio 1 stages a massive event from a different party hot spot – broadcast live on Radio 1.
