Joseph Warungu invites 20 million Africans to BBC Africa Radio Awards

The BBC's Joseph Warungu will broadcast the announcement of the winners
of the BBC Africa Radio Awards live from the Safari Park Hotel in
Nairobi, Kenya at 17.00 GMT on Saturday 26 May 2007.
"Tune in and find out
if your favourite has won," says Kenyan-born Joseph whose live programme,
Focus On Africa, will be supported by a range of BBC output on TV, on
radio and online.
Joseph, who is the Editor of BBC English for Africa programmes Focus On
Africa and Network Africa, says: "I'm thrilled to be bringing the awards
gala live from the heart of Nairobi, and I want our 20 million English-language listeners across Africa to tune into all the broadcasts so that
they can soak up the atmosphere and celebrate the best of English-language radio journalism in the continent."
The awards gala will be hosted by BBC presenter, Komla Dumor, and staged
by leading show producer, Jan Malan.
There will be live performances
from Nigerian rapper 2Face Idibia, South African vocalist Thandiswa
Mazwai and Kenyan newcomer Valerie Kimani.
The BBC Africa Radio Awards will be featured in a range of radio
programmes starting on Monday 21 May.
These include Africa, Have Your Say,
African Perspective, Network Africa, Weekend Network Africa and World
Have Your Say.
The gala in Nairobi will also be covered by BBC Swahili.
The BBC's international TV channel, BBC World, will carry highlights from
Saturday 2 to Monday 4 June.
And the continent's music channel MTV base
(Africa) will carry a week of highlights starting Saturday 2 June with a
half-hour show on Saturday 9 June.
