Statement from BBC News: Alan Johnston, BBC Gaza Correspondent

The BBC issued the following statement at noon, UK time today, Tuesday 20 March 2007, about Alan Johnston, BBC Gaza Correspondent.
"We continue to work tirelessly with the authorities in Gaza and elsewhere to try to locate Alan. However, despite the assurances that we've received about his welfare, we still do not have any firm knowledge regarding his condition or his whereabouts.
"Again, we ask everyone with influence on the situation to intensify their efforts to ensure that Alan is quickly released. We would also like to thank all of those who showed their support at demonstrations in both the UK and the Middle East yesterday."
