Statement from BBC News: Alan Johnston, BBC Gaza Correspondent

The BBC issued the following statement at 11.30am UK time today, Friday 16 March 2007, about Alan Johnston, BBC Gaza Correspondent.
"The BBC still has no confirmation of the whereabouts of correspondent Alan Johnston since his apparent abduction in Gaza on Monday.
"We continue to work closely with the Palestinian authorities and others to resolve the situation.
"Alan Johnston has dedicated the past three years to living and working among the people of Gaza so that their experiences can be reported fairly and accurately to the outside world.
"It is clear from the messages we have received that these efforts are valued enormously in Gaza."
