BBC Four finds itself in a Tight Spot
Lift – and finally...
Beryl Vertue and Sue Vertue, executive producers for Hartswood Films, comment: "We both really liked Mark Watson's writing and especially his script for Lift. It made us all laugh whenever we talked about it.
"Although the characters are very sympathetic with lots of heart, basically it's very, very silly – and we like that. It was just a case of trying to find a home for it. We were delighted when the Tight Spot season gave us the opportunity.
"We are thrilled that Lift is going to be part of the BBC Four comedy portfolio, the channel that has been responsible for such fantastic new comedy as The Thick Of It and Lead Balloon."
They add: "It's also exciting for Hartswood to be doing our first production for BBC Four and Janice Hadlow. We enjoyed it immensely and hope we'll do more together in the future…"
